Steppin' Across America Foundation (SAA) is a 501(c)3 non profit organization founded in 2008 by Yausmenda Ali Bey with a vision of uniting steppers around the globe starting with America, and starting with Chicago Steppin'. With the increased mainstream media attention Chicago Steppin' has garnered over the last 10 years in movies, magazines, television, radio, music, videos, and the Internet, the steppin' bug has caught a tailwind out of the windy city spawning flourishing and newly developing steppin' communities from coast to coast. Chicago Steppin' shows no signs of slowing down or passing as dust in the wind.

Steppin', more specifically, Chicago Steppin' with its mass popularity, can be seen as the rebirth of couple social dancing, romancing with music, positive male-female interaction, and relief from the negative connotations degrading women in today's music videos and a lot of hip hop music within the African-American community. Don't get us wrong, we do get our step on to hip hop music, but its the image of the male and female roles that we wish to offer another option of portraying to our youth and the world. Juking ("booty shaking" and "dropping it like its hot") is not appropriate in every atmosphere, age bracket, or attire. Therefore, in those instances where you find yourself breaking out into your comfortable two-step with a partner, why don't you jazz it up and step instead?
